the sims is LOADED TO THE BRIM with easter eggs, game breaking glitches, and just straight up freaky occurences!
this one has a lil backstory to it.. my cousin and i were playing one day, when all of a sudden the game turned demonic, lmao. the audio went distorted and loud and glitchy, like the burglar sound times x489483, and the sim we were playing? their face turned into this terrifying, grotesque vampire creature. we screamed and ran out of the room and made my parents turn it off. it wasn't until 2023 that i finally looked it up, and found out it's a real glitch! we didn't make it up!
these characters are known as sigmund silver, and the duchess. according to TCRF, the glitch is caused when the game can't render certain resources! i hope to frick i never witness this again
santa will show up if you leave a plate of cookies near a fireplace and a christmas tree, and all your sims are in bed by midnight! he will leave a present for everyone :)
NESSIE!!! you can make it appear by typing in the cheat 'nessie'
G-G-G-GHOST! if the sim telling a story has a high charisma level, they might tell it a little too well.. and.. well.. summon a ghoul
trick or treat, smell his feet! if you place 5+ jack-o-lanterns on your lot, the grim reaper will come ring your doorbell and demand king size candy bars!
bonehilda, the sweetest skeleton, has so many layers to her (well..) she asks for the reapers autograph, plays b-ball, drinks?!, and if the maid sees her, the maid will freak out!
drew carey is in the sims! to get him to appear, just throw a huge party! apparently not a lot of people knew about him, but i've always just spam called 'throw party' and he was a regular party guest, lol
the baby cradle is fireproof o_o
claire the bear can get spooked by ghosts, talk to stuffed bears, she can steal your honey, and saddest of all.. if she sees a bear rug, she will mourn :(
if you have the tragic clown painting in your house and are depressed, you'll be visited by the most miserable clown alive! you can dial the clown catchers to come zap him away
when you climb the beanstalk, you'll be met with a giant will wright! when you click him, it says "thanks for playing the sims."
after you've played a house for 100 days, you'll be asked if you want to learn more about the developers for the nezt 27 days! it's really cool and a nice touch
during the prerelease stage, the cast of the sims was a parody of the sitcom 'all in the family'! they found the character edith so charming, they named their development software after her
there's a few different ways to get sick in the sims, and this sweet little guinea pig is one of them. if a guinea pig from a dirty cage bites you, or a sim who has already been infected comes in contact with you, you will come down with THE GUINEA PIG DISEASE! and yes it can kill your sim
another fun and cool way to die (jk you can't die) is by eating at a buffet table while having low hygiene while on vacation. your sim can pick up 'poopy pants' or 'montezuma's revenge', causing the sim to grab their butt and have literal diarrhea, canceling any current actions queued up and running to the bathroom!
did you know? The Sims had many codenames! Originally known as Project X, it also went by: Jefferson, T.D.S - the Tactical Domestic Simular, T.D.S - the Total Dollhouse Simulator, What The Hell Is It?, and.. the greatest one of all.. THE TOILET GAME
sims will get prank calls and some of them are a bit... ominous... but harmless!
originally the plumbob was just called 'head arrow', but it's final version is called the plumbob!
comic book-esque 'headlines' they were to appear above a sims head when experiencing certain situations such as pain, shock or an idea. the middle finger, for example, is for when you saw someone you hated! they were however cut from the final game
